Cecconi Simone is challenged with a renovation to a late-90s residential building in the heart of New York City. Located across from Penn Station and minutes to Hudson Yards, The Olivia was transformed from an under-performing/under-utilized asset and reimagined into a vibrant community that connects to its residents. Beyond a refresh, Olivia’s interiors incorporate Covid-era phenomena such as a podcast/practice room and an expansive work from home area on the roof. The windowless seventh floor was transformed into a state-of-the-art gym, a hip laundry room, additional WFH areas, breakout areas and leasing. While the interiors are soft, calm, and serene, they are punctuated with vibrant artwork commissioned from local artists, many of whom were under-represented in NYC’s artworld. It’s the balance of the two that delivers a rich, experiential home to The Olivia’s residents.
